Fungus - Inocybe nitidiuscula
Family - Inocybaceae
Also known as - Fiber Cap
Inocybe nitidiuscula is one of several hundred species or mushrooms in the Inocybaceae genus that adapt to the local environment and differing trees. Forming a conical cap that flattens with age, with a pronounced dark umbo (bump) in the centre, they are generally of a variable brown colour there are also others of a bluish hue. The colour graduates from the dark centre to a very pale ragged edge with an overall ragged appearance.
FBCP do not advise or recommend that Fungus – Inocybe nitidiuscula is eaten or used as an herbal remedy. Inocybe species are not considered suitable for consumption. Several species of the family contain large amounts of Muscarine, a toxic alkaloid that can cause hallucinations and convulsions.
